FORT DODGE — Madison Frain, a 2012 graduate of Creston High School, and current member of the University of South Dakota softball team will be honored Friday at the State Softball Tournament.
Frain will be recognized prior to the Class 4A championship game, at 4:45 p.m. Friday on Diamond 1 at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex, as a 100 career pitching win Hall of Fame member. She is the only member of the class of 2012 who achieved that milestone.
Frain finished with a careere pitching record of 148-31 for her career that spanned 2008-12. Her career winning percentage is .827.
Frain currently ranks 40th on the all-time career wins list in the state of Iowa. Ann Coughenour, who pitched for Kingsley-Pierson from 1977-81, holds the career record for wins with 239.
The Creston High School baseball banquet will be held 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, in the high school commons.
Families attending are asked to bring two covered dishes and table service. Gatorade will be provided.
The Creston Panthers 2013 Volleyball Camp will be held Aug. 5-8 at Creston High School.
The camp will be directed by Polly Luther, Creston head volleyball coach, and Jessie McClellan, assistant volleyball coach.
The four-day camp will feature a variety of skills and instruction, specialized fundamental training, team building and team development to prepare for the 2013 season.
Expected attire is shorts, T-shirt, volleyball or clean tennis shoes and kneepads (if you own them).
Camp times are 8:30 to 10 a.m, for grades 3-5; 10 to 11:30 a.m. for grades 6-8; and 1-3:30 p.m. for grades 9-12.
Cost is $35 for grades 3-8 and $45 for grades 9-12. Checks are payable to Creston Volleyball.
Registration forms can be picked up at the high school office, or at registration on the first day of camp.
Creston/Orient-Macksburg football coach Brian Morrison will be hosting a junior padded camp for students in grades 4-6 on Aug. 5-7 at the Creston High School practice fields.
The camp will run from 9-10:30 a.m. each day and the cost of the camp is $20, which includes a T-shirt and Gatorade provided for the athletes. Participants are asked to bring workout clothes and cleats.
There will also be a camp for junior high students in grades 7-8 on Aug. 5-7 at the Creston High School practice fields.
The junior high camp will run from 10:30 a.m.-noon. The cost for the junior high camp is also $20, which includes a t-shirt and Gatorade. Athletes are asked to bring workout clothes and cleats.
The high school football camp for students in grades 9-12 will run from 5-8 p.m. on Aug. 5-9 at the Creston High School practice fields.

The cost for the high school football camp is $30, which includes a T-shirt, shorts and Gatorade.
The Creston/O-M football camps will be put on by the football staff at the middle school and high school level. The camp will focus on fundamentals and installing the offensive and defensive game plan that will be used at each individual level.
Camp registration forms can be picked up at the high school office. Athletes can preregister by taking the form and money to the high school office, or they can register on the first day of camp.
The Creston softball banquet will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 29 at the residence of Lincoln and Janet Jackson, 2075 Beechwood Ave.
All friends and family of the softball team are invited. Families are asked to bring a side dish or salad and a dessert, along with table settings. The meat and beverages will be provided.
Registration for Creston Park and Recreation youth soccer will be held Aug. 1-23.
Games for grades kindergarten-8 will begin Sept. 7 at the Bill Sears Complex East and West fields. Cost is $20 for one child, $32 for two children, $40 for three children and $45 for four or more children from the same family. Fee includes a league T-shirt.
Coaches will contact players assigned to their team the week of Aug. 26.
