MURRAY — Danielle McIntosh of Murray has been selected to play in the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s 29th annual softball all-star series games to be held Monday at Waukee.
The series includes the top 40 seniors, regardless of class. McIntosh, a pitcher and shortstop for Murray after playing at Osceola Clarke earlier in her career, will be a member of the Blue Team coached by Joy Gross of IKM-Mannign and Jill Hulsing of Grinnell.
Also on that team are Allie Martinez of Lewis Central and Emma Ferrin of Martensdale-St. Marys.
On the White Team are Taylor Benshoof and Karly Olson of Winterset, and Macey Wolfe of Dallas Center-Grimes. Moriah Bohlmann of Carroll Kuemper Catholic and Hannah Murphy of Earlham are on the Red Team.
McIntosh, who plans to play softball at Graceland University, was 13-6 as a pitcher this year with a 1.02 earned run average. In 109 innings pitched, she allowed 55 hits with 144 strikeouts and 25 walks. Opponents batted .124 against her.
In 32 games she set a school record with a .908 slugging percentage and tied for first all-time at Murray with eight home runs and 16 doubles. She stands fourth all-time at the school with 38 RBI this season and a .459 batting average.
Her 45 hits rank ninth in Murray records, and she had the 10th-highest runs scored with 44.
On defense, McIntosh had a fielding percentage of 92.2 on 77 chances as a shortstop and pitcher for the Mustangs.
In her final three years of varsity softball at Clarke and Murray, McIntosh batted .420 with 132 hits, 95 runs, 21 home runs, 37 doubles and 105 RBI.
McIntosh is the third Murray player to play in the IGCA all-star series. Jennifer Jensen played in teh 2001 games as a pitcher. Chellsea Nowakowski was an outfielder in the 2005 games.
