Jason Donald Willey, 31, 509 W. Montgomery St., was charged with public intoxication fourth-offense and fifth-degree criminal mischief.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Walnut Street for a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle unattended and searched the area for the occupants of the vehicle. A homeowner informed officers that a male subject, identified as Willey, was hiding in their window well and was walking away. After officers yelled at Willey to stop, he walked over to the officers, who could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. At the Union County Law Enforcement Center (LEC), Willey consented to a sample of his breath through the Data Master. While Willey was at the LEC, he became aggressive toward an officer and grabbed the radio attached to the officer’s duty belt and damaged it. Replacement or repair costs of the officer’s radio is estimated at $100. A check of Willey’s criminal history indicated previous convictions of public intoxication on May 3, 2005, June 15, 2005, June 6, 2008, Sept. 20, 2008 and May 30, 2009.

Willey was being held on $2,000 bond.
