A conversation with McDermott

Steve McDermott is Creston School District's superintendent as of July 1, after former interim superintendent Chuck Scott's final day June 30. McDermott is in the process of purchasing a house in the Creston area to make a move from Newton. McDermott, originally from Greenfield, graduated from Westmar College with a bachelor's degree in art education and coaching. He graduated from Drake University with a specialist's degree and master's degree in pre-K through 12 education administration. He was the superintendent of Newton Community Schools for 11 years. Before that, he was superintendent at Nodaway Valley School District for three years, and a principal for the NV School District before that for five years.
