DWF Executive Committee

The DWF Executive Committee met 10 a.m. July 18 at the First Christian Church with seven members present. Pat Fils, president, opened the meeting with the DWF prayer.

Twila read the minutes from the previous meeting. Minutes were approved.

Margaret gave the treasurer’s report with the following paid: back pack $500, U.C.C. Church $100 for Open Table. This leaves a balance of $2,780.90. Pam Richie presented a bill for the cake. Joyce made a motion to pay Pam, seconded by Twila. Approved. Margaret asked about how long records need to be kept. Florence made a motion to keep them five years, seconded by Pam. Approved.

Old business: Kay Wagner’s farewell party was postponed until July 28. The committee for making the pillow case dresses said they have 40 more dresses that need to be mailed out, but are waiting for an address. This is the last 40 of the 80 that were made.

New business: The committee worked on the DWF yearbook for 2013-14.

There were several changes to the budget; some items were omitted and educational fund added, in which the money will be used for scholarships.

There was one change made to the officers; Joyce Burkhead will be the service chairperson. The nominating committee will stay the same.

In the information for funeral dinners, a motion was made by Joyce, seconded by Florence, to omit the phrase “in the home.” Dinners will only be served at the church.

Florence made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Pam. Meeting adjourned. Meeting closed with the DWF benediction.

The next meeting will be Sept. 5 with a ham and bean supper.

Lincoln Neighbors

Lincoln Neighbors Club met July 10 at the church basement with Joyce Perry as hostess and nine members present. Dee opened the meeting.

Joyce had devotions ready from Psalm 110 and a thought of the day. Two poems, “Our Country” and “Our Home” were read.

Roll call was answered by a Bible verse, and funnies were shared by all.

The secretary read the minutes of the last meeting, and it was approved.

The treasurer’s report was given.

There was no new or old business for the day.

The Lord’s prayer was said by all.

Joyce served refreshments and a drink.

The next meeting will be Aug. 7 at the church basement with Pat Parkins as hostess and a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Everyone bring a salad.
