Debbie Shelley Creston

Debbie Shelley, 60, of Creston died July 29, 2013, in Council Bluffs.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Dianna Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Deborah Jean Shelley, daughter of Shirley Ann (Weber) and John Gordon Henry, was born Jan. 30, 1953, in Escondido, Calif.

Debbie graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1971 and Professional Business Institute in Minneapolis, Minn., in 1972.

Early on, she worked as a lab technician for Greater Community Hospital in Creston and then, beginning in 1988, for Creston Medical Clinic.

On May 28, 1993, Debbie married Timothy James Shelley in Colorado Springs, Colo., and settled in Creston.

Debbie is survived by her husband Tim Shelley of Creston; parents, John and Shirley Henry of Creston; daughters, Erin (husband Travis) Houston and Megan Allen, all of Council Bluffs; stepchildren, Cara (husband Jason) Truitt of Ankeny and Michael and Shaun Shelley, both of Nevada; sisters, Pam (husband Mark) Wall of Grimes, Sheryl (husband Fred) Gramm of Stratton, Colo., Suzanne Calhoun of Albuquerque, N.M., Kim (husband Jay) Moore of Broomfield, Colo., and Michelle (husband Steve) Rhine of Des Moines; brothers, Kevin (wife Rose) Henry of Creston, Bruce Henry of Minneapolis, Minn., and Brian (wife Mary) Henry of Broomfield, Colo.; granddaughter Ainsley Houston; father-in-law Ronald Shelley of Creston; sister-in-law Diana (husband Danny) Curtis of Creston; many other family members and friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Beverly Shelley.
