Murray totals six on Bluegrass all-conference

The senior tandem of Austin Halls and Cody Scroggie found itself on the Bluegrass Conference first team in baseball, as six Mustangs in total earned all-conference honors.

Halls was named to the first team as an infielder after hitting .489 with 14 doubles, one home run and 22 RBI. He also stole 29 bases in 30 attempts. Halls finished with a 4-3 record on the mound, posting an earned run average of 3.39 with 73 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings.

Scroggie, meanwhile, earned first-team honors as an outfielder after hitting .522 with eight doubles, three triples and 23 RBI. Scroggie also finished third in the state for all classes with 56 stolen bases in 57 attempts.

Scroggie was 3-4 on the mound with 48 strikeouts in 45 1/3 innings pitched, while posting an ERA of 5.40.

Junior catcher Sam Rockhold, senior infielder Corey McCracken and junior outfielder Pat Kilmer all earned second-team honors.

Rockhold hit .500 for the season with eight doubles, one home run and a team-high 28 RBI for the Mustangs. He finished 23-of-24 in stolen base attempts.

McCracken hit .354 with four doubles and 19 RBI, stealing 13 bases in 14 attempts. Kilmer hit .357 with five doubles and 26 RBI, with 14 stolen bases in 15 attempts.

Sophomore Braydon Held earned honorable mention. Held hit. 262 for the Mustangs with two doubles, 14 RBI and two stolen bases. It was on the pitching mound where Held made his biggest contributions to the Mustangs, finishing with a 10-1 record and a 4.04 ERA in 53 2/3 innings. Held struck out 47 batters.
