Evelyn Driskill Afton

Evelyn Driskill, 98, of Afton died July 31, 2013, at Afton Care Center.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton. The Rev. Jim Morris and the Rev. Joel Sutton will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Open visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday with family present 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Afton Fire and Rescue. Evelyn Mae (Goodwin) Driskill, daughter of Fannie (Jelinek) and George Washington Goodwin, was born Aug. 12, 1914, in Stanberry, Mo.

Evelyn was educated in a country school and Weldon High School.

On Aug. 29, 1931, Evelyn married Mart Driskill in Princeton, Mo.

They farmed and lived in the Afton area. Later they moved into Afton, where she worked at the Rexall Drug Store for 20 years.

Evelyn was a member of Afton United Methodist Church and South Valley Church.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Lawrence “Tony” (wife Leona) Driskill of Tingley and Perry “Bill” (wife Diana) Driskill of Thayer; daughter Kay Billeter of Winterset; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son Ardith Lee “Art”; five brothers and three sisters.
