Kathryn Lea Walter Knoop Mallard England, of rural Prescott, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 after her long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
Kathryn was born in Prescott, Iowa on June 9, 1941 to Dale and Margaret Walter.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Walter, all of Adams County, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Michael England; her children, daughter Jane Knoop Roelofsz (husband Michael) of Kansas City, Missouri and son Dale Knoop (wife Jackie) of Leawood, Kansas; her step children, Jackie Mallard Stephens (husband Brady) of Oklahoma, Jon Mallard (wife Joy) of Alabama, Corie England and Paul England (wife Chris) of Iowa; and her grand-children and step grand-children.
A computer programmer by trade, Kathryn paved the way into an industry not often populated with women. From working at University of New Hampshire admissions offices, Midwest Conveyor, Kansas City Hospice, Trolli Candy Company, to owning her own consulting firm, she never shied away from any project or system. Kathryn’s life touched many during her career and personal journeys, most recently as she and her husband of 20 plus years, traveled to destinations around the country as full time RV residents after retirement. They spent 10 wonderful years seeing everything they wanted to see including a summer spent in Alaska, a lifelong dream for Kathryn. She was a loyal friend and a devoted mother and grandmother. Those ever treated to one of her home-cooked meals, will miss her culinary flair, in particular her whatever-is-leftover-in-the-fridge soup. We will all miss her spirit for life, quest for adventure and wicked sense of humor.
In honor of Kathryn’s request, there will not be a funeral or memorial service. Letters or cards may be sent to Kathryn England’s Family, P.O. Box 865, Liberty, Missouri 64069 (Arr. Cremation Society of KS & MO 913.383.9888)
