Kent Dinner Club

Kent Dinner Club met Aug. 8 at Creston Family Restaurant with eight in attendance.

The next meeting will be 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Creston Family Restaurant.

Alpha Delta Kappa

Fifteen members of the Iowa Alpha Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa met Aug. 5 at Kelly’s Garden Café for their fall kickoff. Past President Tina Morrison distributed new yearbooks.

Officers for 2013-2014 are: President Danette Lesan; Vice President Jodi Johnson; Recording Secretary Jane Eklund; Treasurer Lois Houghtaling; Corresponding Secretary Pam Dunham; Historian Vickie Green; Sergeant-at-Arms Lori Mann; and Chaplain Kiley Sherwood.

The Sept. 9 meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Pauline McCoy. Hostesses will be Lois Houghtaling, Marge Scott and Ruth Schroder. Deb Houghtaling will present the program titled “Making Memories.”

Lincoln Neighbors

Lincoln Neighbors Club met 12:30 p.m. at the church basement. A salad luncheon with sloppy joe sandwiches, salads and drinks was partaken by 11 members and one guest.

After the luncheon, Dorothy Jackson called the meeting to order. Pat had devotions reading Psalm 100, “Mom’s Aprons,” and “God’s Present.”

Roll call was answered by a Bible verse, and funnies were shared.

The secretary read the minutes of the last meeting, and the minutes were approved.

The treasurer report was given.

In new business, a card was signed for Mardell Huss and a birthday card for Sandy Oswald.

There was no further business.

The meeting closed with the Lord’s prayer.

Pat served root beer floats.

The next meeting will be Sept. 11 with the hostess to be announced.

Beta Sigma Phi

Iowa Alpha Sigma Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at Summit House Aug. 8. Spouses were guests for a 6:30 p.m. cookout.

President Marilyn Larimore held a short business meeting. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Printed duties of officers were received from international; each officer received a copy.

The next meeting will be Beginning Day Thursday at Summit House with Dorothy Eyberg as hostess.

Greater Regional Medical Center Auxiliary

Greater Regional Medical Center Auxiliary met Monday at the MAP conference room at Greater Regional Medical Center. Rhonda Vogel conducted the meeting. Nine members and Annette Rice were present.

Monte Neitzel gave an administrator’s report.

Rice gave a volunteer report. Information guide training will be held Aug. 26. More volunteer guides and gift shop volunteers are needed. Call Rice at 782-3553, if interested.

Carolyn Abel gave a gift shop report.

Five $1,000 scholarship checks will be mailed this month to recipients studying in the medical field.

Reports from hospitals attending the auxiliary summer gathering hosted by Creston were read.

The IHA annual conference will be Oct. 10, which is Auxiliary Day. Martha Musmaker will be Creston’s Auxiliary “shining star.” Several members will attend.

A jewelry sale will be held Sept. 10.

A book sale will be held Oct. 24.

The next meeting will be Sept. 9 at the MAP conference room.


The weekly Kiwanis meeting was held 12:05 p.m. Tuesday at The Windrow with 20 members and one guest. President Brad Lorenzen presided and did the prayer. Jack Keuter was finemaster.

On the program was Marilyn Ralls with the Creston Library. She discussed the summer programs that were held for all ages. The Kiwanis Club donated $500 for books.

The club was updated on the pork chop dinner fundraiser to be held at McKinley Park 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 19.
