Ballots available for Clearfield School dissolution vote

CLEARFIELD — Absentee ballots are now ready for the Sept. 10 Clearfield Community School public measure voting on the question “Shall the dissolution of the Clearfield Community School District be approved and its territory and assets and liabilities be distributed to designated contiguous school districts effective July 1, 2014?”

People must be a resident of the Clearfield School District to vote in this election.

If voters do not wish to vote at Clearfield City Hall from noon to 8 p.m. on Election Day (Sept. 10), they may vote early in the Taylor County auditor’s office during office hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Voters may also request a ballot by mail by submitting the following information on a sheet of paper no smaller than 3 by 5 inches: Name, address, election date or name, date of birth and signature of the applicant. Send forms to Taylor County Auditor, 405 Jefferson St., Suite 1, Bedford, IA 50833.

Forms may also be printed from the secretary of state’s website at www.sos.iowa.gov or by calling the auditor’s office at (712) 523-2280.

The last day to pre-register to vote in this election, if you are not already registered, is Aug. 30. Voters will need to re-register if their address has changed since the last time they voted.

All voters not pre-registered will need to show ID with current address at the polls.
