Michael Dean Williams, 42, 211 S. Peterson St., was charged with disorderly conduct, driving while revoked and cited for failure to obey a stop sign after an accident 4:29 p.m. Wednesday at Willow Avenue and 210th Street in Thayer.

According to a Creston Police report, a witness observed Williams, driving a 2000 Ford west on 210th Street at a high rate of speed, run a stop sign and side-swiped a 2006 Chevrolet also driving west on 210th Street by Lori Jeanette Friday, 31, of Murray. The impact of the accident spun Friday’s vehicle into the north ditch, where it came to a rest. Williams’ vehicle entered the north ditch and came to a rest in a farm pasture owned by Terry Miller of Thayer.

Friday was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines and Williams was transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Medical Center (GRMC).

At 6:01 p.m., officers went to the hospital to deal with a “combative” person.

According to a Creston Police report, a X-ray technician and the director of radiology were performing X-rays on Williams when he stood up and took a swing at the director, tried to move the bed around and refused to sit back down on the bed after officers told him several times to do so.

Upon release from GRMC, Williams was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center.

Damage estimates are $3,500 to Williams’ vehicle, $9,500 to Friday’s vehicle and $200 to Miller’s fence.

Friday’s condition is unknown at this time.

Williams is being held awaiting an appearance before the magistrate.

Kevin Lee Davis, 20, 612 Grand Avenue, No. 2, was charged with driving while suspended 2 a.m. today at Lincoln and Montgomery streets.

According to a Creston Police report, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. Officer’s identified the driver as Davis, who had a suspended driver’s license.

Davis was released on $300 bond.
