Murray connection in Little League World Series
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Twin sons of a former Murray multi-sport athlete are playing in the Little League World Series today.
At 1:30 p.m. today, Sammamish, Wash., plays Connecticut to decide who takes on California in the American championship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The American winners then play the International champs at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Jack and Adam Carper, twin sons of Billy and Julie Carper, are members of the Washington team. Jack plays left field and pitches, and Adam pinch-runs and pinch hits mostly, while sometimes playing in the outfield.
Billy, son of Bill and Norma Carper of Murray, is a 1988 graduate of Murray and was a three-sport star for the Mustangs.
Sammamish hung on for a 6-5 win over Urbandale, in a Little League World Series elimination game Monday night. When Sammamish plays Connecticut today, it looks to avenge its only defeat so far in the LLWS.
