CORYDON — The East Union cross country team competed in its first meet of the season, and its first meet in several years here Thursday at the Wayne Invite.

Emma Harper led the way for the Eagles, finishing third with a time of 17:04 over the 4K course. Jenna Proffitt placed 17th in 19:24, while Angie Lopez was 58th in 24:21 and Hannah Bartlett finished 59th in 24:22.

On the boys side, Gabe Nixon paced the Eagles with a 20th-place finish in 20:46. Robert Smith finished 56th in 25:48. Casey Walters was 57th in 25:53 and Elijah Weinmann placed 71st in 32:08.

“I was extremely pleased with our outing, being the first meet in several years,” head coach Rich Bryson said.

The Eagles return to action today at Winterset.
