The Creston/O-M freshmen defeated a combined Clarinda freshman and JV squad Friday night, 35-6.

Chase Shiltz rushed 15 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Frain and Seth Thompson passed for a combined 80 yards on six completions. Cody Crawford had four catches for 54 yards. Gavin Woods returned a punt for a touchdown and had five points after touchdown. The Panthers totaled 210 yards.

The Panther defense allowed only 58 total yards and one first down. Kadon Hulett and Cody Tanner each had a total of six tackles.

“As a group we are getting better,” said co-coach Jon Thomson, as the Panthers improved to 2-0. “We are making less mistakes as a team. We still need to clean up some of those penalties. I really like our intensity and the way we are playing.”

Thomson said the team has had success running the ball, and will infuse more passing in the coming weeks.

“We have really established ourselves with a run offense,” Thomson said. “I know between Brody and Seth we can get some more action going in the air.”
