Kroese 30th

CLARINDA — Lenox’s Rebekah Kroese was the top area finisher at the Clarinda Invitational here Tuesday, placing 30th in the varsity girls race with a time of 16:00.

Steph Shuler led the Southwest Valley girls with a 41st place finish, running 16:21.

The Timberwolve boys finished 10th in the team standings with 309 team points, and were paced by Lane Peterson’s 39th-place finish. Peterson crossed the line in 17:21.

“Once again, we had a very hot night to compete, but overall we performed very well,” Southwest Valley head coach Sandy Winter said. “Our team continues to improve and the times did drop from the first meet. Quintin Oldenkamp ran his first race and did very, very well so he will join the varsity boys team next week. Connor Haggerty ran his first varsity meet and also ran well.”

The Timberwolves return to action Monday at Red Oak and then host their home meet Thursday.
