Panorama 10, Nodaway Valley 0

GREENFIELD — Nodaway Valley lost its homecoming game, 10-0, here Friday in a defensive battle with district opponent Panorama.

The Panthers were fresh off a strong outing against defending district champion Council Bluffs St. Albert, while Nodaway Valley was coming off its first win of the season.

“Our defense played great and gave us chances to be in the game,” Nodaway Valley head coach Steve Shantz said. “They had two big plays that led to their two scores. Our defense had many three-and-outs, and held Panorama to a field goal after they had first and goal at our 5.”

Gavin Richey hit Chase Hennen for a 44-yard touchdown in the first quarter and Jonas Possner hit a 26-yard field goal to account for all of the scoring in the game.

Nodaway Valley, which outgained Panorama 234-192, just couldn’t score because of untimely mistakes.

“Our offense struggled,” Shantz said. “We outgained them, but couldn’t score. Costly mistakes and penalties in the red zone negated opportunities to get points on the board.”

Nodaway Valley falls to 1-3 for the season and 1-1 in Class 1A District 8.

Zach Brewer finished with 83 rushing yards for the Wolverines. Jackson Lamb finished 11-of-27 passing for 163 yards. Baley Shantz led Nodaway Valley with six catches for 93 yards. Defensively, Jaydn Erlandson led the way with nine tackles.

The Wolverines travel to West Central Valley on Friday.
