Opal Tompkins Maryville, Mo.

Opal Tompkins, 97, of Maryville, Mo., died Sept. 27, 2013, at Parkdale Manor Care Center in Maryville.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Price Funeral Home in Maryville. Burial will be in Miriam Cemetery in Maryville. Memorials may be given to Maryville First Christian Church.

Opal Dorine Tompkins, daughter of Rosa Agnes (Hardisty) and Harrison Henry Means, was born April 16, 1916, in Corning.

Opal graduated from Corning High School in 1933.

Opal was a homemaker.

On Dec. 25, 1937, Opal married Bernard Wilson Tompkins in Grant City, Mo.

Opal was a member of the First Christian Church in Maryville.

Opal is survived by her son Stephen (Bonnie) Tompkins of Maryville; daughter-in-law Marjorie Tompkins of Fountain, Colo.; sister Violet Antisdel of Creston; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband Aug. 20, 1997; son Harrison Tompkins in August 2010; brother Elmo Edward Means and sister Dorthea May Miller.
