Donald E. Kallhoff, 52, of Omaha, Neb., was charged for first-offense operating while intoxicated 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the 1000 block of South Sumner Avenue.

According to a Creston Police report, officers took a citizen complaint of a male who appeared to be intoxicated in a white van with Nebraska license plates pulling a fishing boat. The complainant said the male was at Casey’s near the intersection of Elm and Taylor streets, appeared to be extremely intoxicated and was falling down while attempting to put fuel in the van. Officers located the vehicle exiting the Casey’s parking lot and performed a traffic stop near the intersection of South Sumner Avenue and Laurel Street. Officers noticed the boat had been damaged, the hitch was broken off and a piece of tow strap was being used to secure the boat to the van. Officers spoke with and identified the driver and only occupant of the van as Kallhoff. Kallhoff consented to field sobriety testing, which indicated a high level of impairment. Kallhoff was taken into detainment and consented to testing on the Datamaster, which indicated a blood alcohol content of .197.

Kallhoff was being held in Union County Jail on $1,000 bond.
