Chicken Inn to re-open Oct. 9

Published: Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 11:50 a.m. CST

The Chicken Inn, approximately four miles west of Creston on the north side of Highway 34, will re-open Oct. 9.

The Chicken Inn is listed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The new caretakers of the Chicken Inn are Snooky and Jim George and Kevin and Debbie Glick. Debbie is the daughter of the late Harvey Briles, the former owner. Work has gone into cleaning and fixing up the inn over the past seven months.

The plan is for the inn to host a jam session every Wednesday evening and also have dances on the first and third Saturday of each month, as well as other special occasions.

Everyone is invited – musicians, vocalists, dancers and listeners – for a jam session 6 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning Oct. 9, at the Chicken Inn.

Kevin Glick will MC the proceedings, and Jim George will be in charge of the musicians. There will be a variety of music from old country to new, along with some rock and roll and big band.

There will be a break about halfway through the jam, and everyone is allowed to bring their own snacks, desserts and sandwiches. Water, coffee and soda pop will be available.
