8th grade

Atlantic won a 22-0 game against the Creston/O-M eighth-graders here last Thursday.

Coach Kristopher “Kritter” Hayes said the Panthers trailed only 8-0 at halftime, but had difficulty finishing drives against the Trojans.

“At half we had dominated the time of possession, which was our plan,” Hayes said. “Our offensive moved the ball, but had issues finishing drives and penalties hurt us at crucial times. The game seemed closer than the score showed.”

Hayes said the coaches saw positives in moving forward to Thursday’s game at Winterset.

Kolby Tomas carried 25 times for 142 yards rushing. Blake Sevier had seven tackles and two fumble recoveries.

The B game was a 0-0 tie. Dalten Bierle had 112 yards rushing on 10 carries.
