Bearcats 5-0

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The third-ranked Northwest Missouri State football team improved to 5-0 on the season and 4-0 in MIAA play with a 40-12 victory over Northeastern State on Saturday afternoon at Doc Wadley Stadium. NSU drops to 0-5 overall and in conference play.

Senior quarterback Trevor Adams passed for 212 yards and two scores, completing 11 of 16 attempts.

Defensive end Collin Bevins of Creston was the fourth-leading tackler for the Bearcats. Among his five tackles were three for losses of 14 yards, and two sacks for a total of 12 yards.

The game was delayed nearly an hour due to lightning.

Morningside wins

FREMONT, Neb. — NAIA No. 1-ranked Morningside defeated Midland Lutheran Saturday, 32-7.

Former Iowa running back Brandon Wegher picked up 119 yards rushing on 20 carries, including one touchdown for the Mustangs (4-0). Alan Smith of Creston is a member of the Morningside varsity but did not appear in this game.

Grand View of Des Moines is ranked No. 4 in the nation.

Booster club

Creston Activities Booster Club will meet 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at A&G Steakhouse and Lounge.

Agenda includes activity report including winter sports parents night and elementary basketball tournaments; “Night Eyes” plans; football concession grilling; new ideas for concessions; and plans for presentations of Fan of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and membership awards.
