Gene Lowenberg, 71, of Afton died Oct. 5, 2013.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston. Jim Maeder will officiate. Burial will be private at a later date. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to be established. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.
Gene Francis Lowenberg, son of Louese (Butler) and Vincen Lowenberg, was born May 14, 1942, in Villisca.
Gene graduated from Creston High School in 1962.
In 1967, Gene married Jenny Best.
Gene settled in Creston and worked as a mechanic and service station tech. He first worked at APCO Service Station and later at Hanson’s DX, which became Whitson’s DX, all in Creston. He later worked at Innovative Industries as a floor supervisor.
Gene was a member of Solid Rock Ministries and Eagles Lodge.
Gene is survived by his son Scott (wife Heather) Lowenberg of Oklahoma; granddaughters, Legacy and Larabea, both at home; brothers, John Lowenberg of Fort Meyers, Fla., Glenn (wife Sue) of Loveland, Fla., and Max (wife Pat) Lowenberg and Dale (wife Sharman) Lowenberg, all of Afton; sisters, Lois Halm of Fort Meyers, Fla., Mary Baker of Florida and Joan (husband Dallas) Maeder of Corning; sisters-in-law, Bert Lowenberg of Nevinville and Barbara Lowenberg of Atlanta, Ga.; aunt Pearl Units; cousin Joseph Daniel Units of Denver, Colo.; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Phil, Paul, Leo, Jim and his twin Dean; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Halm and Wade Baker.
