The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released its regional volleyball pairings on Friday, giving teams a glimpse of what the road to state will look like.
The Creston Panthers, 10-7 for the season, open up Class 4A Region 2 play at Glenwood on Monday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. against the 11-11 Rams.
Creston hosts Glenwood at 7:30 p.m. here Thursday in a regional preview. That match will also play a big role in the conference standings, as Glenwood currently sits at 3-2 in the conference and Creston is 2-4.
The winner of the Oct. 28 regional opener advances to play Lewis Central in Council Bluffs at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31.
On the other half of the Class 4A Region 2 bracket, Dallas Center-Grimes (9-13) opens at 10-18 Winterset. The winner of that matchup travels to Harlan to play the state rated Cyclones in the regional semifinals.
The winners of the two semifinal matchups will meet at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln High School for the right to go to state.
Region 3 in Class 1A is full of area teams. East Union and Lenox kick things off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Lenox. The winner of that match moves on to play Orient-Macksburg at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 in Lenox in the regional quarterfinals.
Also on the top half of the bracket in Region 3, Murray hosts Lamoni at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22. The winner of that matchup will play either Mormon Trail or Southeast Warren in the quarterfinals, which will be played in Murray at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29.
On the bottom half of the bracket, Diagonal opens up at Bedford at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22. The winner of that match advances to play either Nishnabotna or Stanton in Stanton at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29.
South Page vs. Essex and Griswold vs. Exira/EHK form the final two opening-round matchups in the bottom half of the bracket.
Region 3 semifinals will be played in Murray and Stanton at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1, with the finals being played in Creston at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6.
Region 4 in Class 2A houses the rest of the area teams, as Mount Ayr opens up against Central Decatur at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 in Mount Ayr. The winner of that match moves on to play Southwest Valley in Corning at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29 in the quarterfinals.
Nodaway Valley, meanwhile, opens against Earlham at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22 in Greenfield, with the winner traveling to Des Moines Christian in Urbandale on Oct. 29.
Winners from those two quarterfinal matchups will meet in Greenfield on Nov. 1 in the regional semifinal.
The bottom half of the bracket features Pleasantville opening against Van Meter, with the winner set to meet BGM, Brooklyn. Cardinal and Pella Christian meet, with the winner taking on Eddyville-Blakesburg.
The regional final for Region 4 will be held Nov. 6 at Pella Christian High School.
