Grassley, King vote against bill ending shutdown
(MCT) — Members of Iowa’s congressional delegation welcomed a vote to re-open the federal government even though it means they’ll be back at the bulwarks again in January.
Republican congressmen Rep. Steve King and Sen. Chuck Grassley were the only two in Iowa's congressional delegation to vote against the bill.
The “grand compromise that isn’t so grand,” Grassley said in describing a short-term funding agreement reached by Senate negotiators to keep the government open until Jan. 15 and raise the debt ceiling until Feb. 7.
