Ronald Jackson Murray

Ronald Jackson, 85, of Murray died Oct. 14, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs and the Rev. Brian McCracken will officiate. Interment will be in Murray Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Murray Dollars for Scholars or Murray American Legion Post No. 405.

Ronald Earl Jackson, son of Mary Alice (Ewart) and Harold L. Jackson, was born Sept. 28, 1928, at the family home in Adams County.

Ronald received his education in Adams County rural country schools and graduated from Prescott High School in 1946.

After his graduation, Ronald worked at various jobs, traveling out west.

Ronald was called to serve in the United States Army from 1951-52 in Korea.

Upon his return from military duty, Ronald worked with his father and Red Star Mills in Corning.

On March 22, 1953, Ronald married Betty Jeanne Foley at the Christian Church in Creston.

In 1954, Ronald and Betty moved to the Murray area, where he did stock and grain farming.

Ronald was an original member of Murray Housing Association, American Legion Post No. 405 in Murray, Murray United Methodist Church, lifetime member of Afton V.F.W. and Murray Booster Club.

Ronald is survived by his wife Betty of Murray; children, Charlie Jackson of Tempe, Ariz., and Lyle (wife Cherie) Jackson, JoAnn (husband Randy) Callison and Mike (wife Teresa) Jackson, all of Murray; grandchildren, Holly Jackson of Pocahontas, John (Margie) Jackson of Osceola, Marty (Jody) Jackson of Ankeny, Andy (Jenn) Jackson of Lorimor, Kevin (Christiana) Callison of Gilbert, Ariz., Crystal (Caleb) Callison of Mesa, Ariz., and Marla and Tiffany Jackson, both of West Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Faith, Nickolas, Kaylee, Sawyer, Gabrielle, Christian, Navaeh and Cienna; sister Doris (Dick) Mantz of Kansas City, Mo.; other relatives and many friends.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Ivan Fickel, sister Clara Miller, brother-in-law Barney Miller and nephew Terry Peterson.
