Christopher Eaton earns certificate from commercial lending school
Christopher Eaton of First National Bank in Creston completed the 2013 Iowa Bankers Association’s commercial lending school held Sept. 29-Oct. 4 in Cedar Rapids.
The school is an intense, one-week program sponsored by the Iowa Bankers Association (IBA). The purpose of the IBA commercial lending school is to prepare commercial lenders who have not been exposed to formal commercial lending education or lenders who want to broaden their commercial lending knowledge to serve effectively and profitably as commercial loan officers. This is accomplished by developing a better understanding of the economy and how it affects the lending decision; developing an understanding of how a business is structured and how it competes; develop an understanding of the role of company’s management and how to analyze and evaluate the management; develop a thorough understanding and application of basic and advanced analytical techniques; and develop an understanding of relationship banking to meet and maintain multiple customer financial needs.
Eaton, vice president, has also received his certification from the IBA’s ag credit school. He is actively involved as co-chairman of the Connor Cares Foundation, which is focused on the education, prevention and awareness of shaken baby syndrome. He is a member of Ringgold County ISU Extension and Outreach, Union County High Lakes Leadership, Creston Kiwanis and Southern Prairie YMCA. Eaton has been in banking for more than 20 years.
