Janell Staats earns national certification for outstanding work with people and families
Janell Staats, energy and development director, MATURA Action Corporation, was one of 40 individuals from across America working to alleviate poverty to receive the Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) credential this year. The Community Action Partnership, which administers the program, honored Staats and the other new CCAPs Aug. 29 during its annual convention in Chicago.
In order to earn the CCAP designation, Community Action managers and leaders who work with low-income individuals and communities must demonstrate their Community Action expertise through completion of a detailed assessment of their knowledge of poverty theories, causes and remedies; ability to help low-income people achieve economic stability; and comprehension of the mission, vision and values of Community Action.
To date, there are 482 CCAPs across the country representing rural, urban and suburban Community Action agencies.
