Christopher Alan Pierce, 26, 312 N. Birch St., was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, and Kegan Lynn Kirscher, 20, 301 Kansas Ave., was charged with possession of marijuana and driving while barred 2:15 a.m. today in the 500 block of West Taylor Street.

According to a Creston Police report, an officer stopped a vehicle 12:18 a.m. today driven by Kirscher for having no license plates. During the stop, it was determined Kirscher’s driver’s license was barred. The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from Kirscher and Pierce, a passenger in the vehicle. The officer also noticed Kirscher had eyelid tremors, muscle tremors in his neck, and red and bloodshot eyes consistent with marijuana use. A hand-rolled cigarette consistent with a marijuana joint was discovered in an ashtray within Kirscher’s reach. Kirscher admitted to using marijuana within the day prior to the incident.

The officer asked Pierce if he had anything illegal on his person, and he stated he did not. Pierce consented to a pat down, and the officer discovered a hand-rolled cigarette believed to be marijuana. A syringe commonly used to inject illegal drugs was also found. Pierce admitted he had no medical need for the syringe. A trained K-9 alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Pierce was being held on $1,000 bond, and Kirscher was being held on $2,000 bond at Union County Jail.
