Jackie Ann Reipe, 30, and Tara Anne Squibbs, 29, both of Corning, were charged 5 p.m. Wednesday at Wal-Mart, 806 Laurel St., for second-degree theft.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart to investigate a report of two shoplifters. Upon arrival, officers were advised Reipe and Squibbs entered the store and gathered numerous merchandise in two shopping carts. Reipe and Squibbs were observed by Wal-Mart employees attempting to leave the store without paying for the items. Merchandise in the carts was valued at $1,333.14.

Reipe was released on $5,000 bond, and Squibbs was being held on $5,000 bond.
