Sierra Peddycoart Afton

Sierra Peddycoart, 19, of Afton died Nov. 7, 2013, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near Afton.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the East Union High School commons in Afton. The Rev. Ken Wallace will officiate. Des Moines services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Westover Baptist Church in Des Moines. Burial will be private at a later date. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with family present 4 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton. Memorials may be directed to the family. Sierra Rose Peddycoart, daughter of Lori Ann (Peddycoart) and Eric Lee Anderson, was born Aug. 1, 1994, in Des Moines.

Sierra grew up in West Des Moines, until eighth grade, when she moved to Afton.

Sierra graduated from East Union High School in 2012. She was in the nursing program at Southwestern Community College in Creston.

Sierra had been employed at Afton Care Center, and most recently, Casey’s General Store in Afton.

Sierra was a member of Westover Baptist Church in Des Moines.

Sierra is survived by her father Eric Anderson of Afton; boyfriend Cody Duncan of Afton; brothers, Jason Peddycoart of Des Moines and Devon Anderson of Afton; sister Kylie Peddycoart of Afton; stepbrothers, Nathaniel Werner of Ankeny and Rylan and Nikolas Anderson, both of Des Moines; niece Jessica Peddycoart of Afton; aunt Lisa Peddycoart; grandparents, Lee and Sue Anderson of Bayard; great-grandparents, Mary Jane O’Brien of West Des Moines and Bob and Carol Miller of New Sharon (formerly of Afton); and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.

Sierra was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mike and Sheryll Peddycoart; mother (in this car accident) and aunt Lynn Brookes.
