Adair County 4-H names outstanding members
GREENFIELD — Brad Baudler and Matthew Noland were named the Outstanding Senior 4-H members during the Adair County 4-H Awards Day program.
Baudler is the son of Clifton and Sondra Baudler of Fontanelle and a former member of Summerset Citizens 4-H Club. Baudler has earned state project awards in leadership and citizenship project areas. He is a freshman at Iowa State University.
Noland is the son of Carey and Teresa Noland of Adair. Noland has been a 4-H’er since third grade. He is a third-year member of the Speak Out for Agriculture planning committee. Noland is a senior at Adair-Casey High School.
As 4-H Youth Council members, both young men have volunteered at Micah House, a homeless shelter in Council Bluffs, Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines and helped with the local 4-H Clover Run.
Outstanding Intermediate honors went to Dakota Hughes and Riley Lonsdale, Adair County Wing Walkers members; and Maggie Maas, Summit Super Stars member.
Hughes is the daughter of Dawn Hughes of Greenfield. She volunteers at local events and has volunteered in the food and nutrition area of the state fair 4-H exhibit building during prep days. Hughes helped lead the Blooming in Fontanelle project. She also volunteers with her fellow club members making door decorations for the local care center and preparing holiday care packages.
Lonsdale is the daughter of Martin and Maureen Lonsdale of Greenfield. She is a member of Wing Walkers and 4-H Youth Council. Lonsdale participates in the county fair Pride of Iowa contest. She logged more than 200 hours of community service, including helping with the Blooming in Fontanelle project and Halloween dance sponsored by Wing Walkers.
Maas, daughter of Kevin and Darci Maas of Adair, is a fourth-year Summit Super Star. She shows cattle, works on exhibits and performs at Share the Fun. Maas also visits residents in the local care centers and provides food pantry items and school supplies for students.
Selena Rubio and Jill Wallace, both members of NV Champions, were named Outstanding Junior 4-H’ers.
Rubio, daughter of Robert and Christine Rubio, is club secretary/treasurer. Her club activities include serving dinner at the local hospital gala, helping with the lighted Christmas parade float, planting flowers in the fairgrounds courtyard and decorating the NAPA window on the Greenfield Square to acknowledge National 4-H Week.
Wallace, daughter of Dave and Connie Wallace, participated in the county fair Pride of Iowa Contest and had food and nutrition and clothing projects. She helps with NV Champions Adopt-A-Family community service project. Wallace also planted flowers at the fairgrounds and decorated the NAPA window in Greenfield for National 4-H Week. She attended Southwest Iowa Junior 4-H Camp.
Each of the outstanding members received a trophy donated by First National Bank of Fontanelle/Greenfield/Massena/Anita/Correctionville.
