DES MOINES — The streak is over.
Southwestern women broke a 34-game losing streak dating back to the 2011-12 season with a 59-55 victory over Grand View JV Thursday night.
The Spartans (1-2) rallied from a 40-32 halftime deficit and trailed by 10 points with eight minutes left.
Southwestern was 21-of-32 at the free throw line and grabbed 40 rebounds in the game, including 14 crucial offensive rebounds, according to coach Addae Houston.
“The girls did a good job of attacking the basket at the right time and getting to the free throw line,” Houston said.
