Dave Ahrens Creston

Dave Ahrens, 60, of Creston died Nov. 19, 2013, at Greater Regional Hospice Home.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 25 and 34. The Rev. Dan Moore will officiate. Visitation with family present will be noon to 1 p.m. service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Creston Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.). David Lewis Ahrens, son of Beverly Fay (Piper) and Floyd Lewis Ahrens, was born Oct. 3, 1953, in Boone.

David graduated from Boone High School in 1972.

On March 25, 1973, David married Cindi Lu Inman in Boone.

Dave was a mechanic at the Chevy dealership in Perry and then worked road construction as a machine operator and crew foreman at H&F Construction.

Dave moved to Creston in 1981

From 1991 to 2002 Dave worked for the city of Creston street department, and The Pizza Ranch from 2005 to 2008.

Dave was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

Dave is survived by his children, Travis (wife Jenny) Ahrens, Amy (husband Chad) Hammons and Adam (wife Danique) Ahrens, all of Creston; brother Timothy Ahrens of Celina, Ohio; sister Tammy Helvick of Bondurant; and grandchildren, Alexandria, Bridgette and Tristan Ahrens, Stone, Brandon and Conner Hammons and Kain, Christian and Audree Ahrens.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2003 and grandson Christopher Ahrens in 2002.
