Irene Osborn Des Moines

Irene Osborn, 93, of Des Moines, formerly of Creston, died Dec. 10, 2013, at Edgewater Nursing Facility in West Des Moines.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St. The Rev. Jim Woodworth will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family in Irene’s name to be established. Irene Mae Osborn, daughter of Edith Mae (Wilson) and William Thorn Madison, was born July 13, 1920, in Creston.

Irene graduated from Creston High School in 1937.

On March 27, 1944, Irene married Deane Smith in Alexandria, La.

Deane died Sept. 21, 1975.

On June 14, 1980, Irene married William Osborn in Creston.

Irene worked for Violet’s Beauty Shop for a few years, and she was a homemaker most of her adult life.

Irene lived in Des Moines the past seven years.

Irene was a former member of Elks Lodge in Creston and Crestmoor Golf Club. She was very active at Creston Congregational Church for many years.

Irene is survived by her children, Dee (Jerry) Warren of Clive, Bruce (Darlene) Smith, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Martha (Jeff) Crill of Corning; grandchildren, Dana Dunphy, Heather Brezinski, Lincoln and Matt Decklever, Ken and Brett Smith and Brandyn, Clint and Chase Crill; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one brother, one sister and granddaughter Erin.
