Johnnie Todd Lovell, 33, 510 N. Maple St., was charged 12:39 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of North Sycamore and West Howard streets with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, and on Union County warrants for failure to appear on a child support matter and failure to appear on nuisance abatement.

According to a Creston Police report, Lovell was the passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation. It was discovered Lovell had valid outstanding warrants. As he was physically searched, a syringe, commonly used by people involved in drug activity, was found in his sweatshirt pocket. The driver gave officers verbal consent to search the vehicle. A black zipper bag was discovered and other items consisting of more syringes, plastic bags and a digital scale were found in the same location as a bag containing a white powder consistent with methamphetamine and burned with a lighter to seal it, commonly done by people selling methamphetamine. The substance and residue from the scale field tested positive for methamphetamine and all items were found in a black bag belonging to Lovell, as well as his driver’s license.

Lovell was being held on $102,300 bond.
