Stormy and I celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary with a casual lunch date Sunday.
Can you believe it’s been two years since I was boring you all with my column about the difficulties of wedding planning? I can’t. I’d say we’ve accomplished a lot in the past 24 months.
Most notably: We bought a house, sold one, went on two vacations (one being our honeymoon to Rivera Maya, Mexico) and — with the help of an amazing staff at Greater Regional Medical Center — brought a daughter into this fast-paced world.
That daughter, Harper, turned 6 months old Saturday.
Time moves too fast, I’ve learned, but being a journalist has taught me to document all the significant events in our lives during the past two years through photos, photo captions and videos.
Sunday I uploaded a video slideshow to the song “Hey Pretty Girl” by Kip Moore. It is dedicated to Stormy and Harp — who have brought my life such happiness.
Harp brings us both immense happiness.
The only family member she may not consistently bring happiness to is our dog Macy — a shih tzu — who too often is on the receiving end of one of Harp’s hair pulls. Harper’s got a mighty grip for a 6-month-old and everything she grabs goes directly into her mouth.
That includes branches from the Christmas tree. I was watching television earlier this month, Harp was in her walker and before long she’d scooted to the Christmas tree and was attempting to snack on one of the evergreen branches.
The branch made it into her mouth before I could move her walker elsewhere.
I could only laugh.
Those moments won’t stick around forever.
Each day I get older, the more I understand how truly blessed I am for my wife and daughter, health and a supporting cast of family members.
To all the readers of the CNA — I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and successful new year.
