Derik James Martin, 23, 206 W. Montgomery St., was charged with public intoxication and unlawful possession of prescription drugs 11 a.m. Wednesday.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of North Oak Street in reference to a male subject who appeared to be intoxicated. Officers were given a clothing description of a green coat, blue jeans and stocking hat. Officers observed a male subject identified as Martin, who matched the description in the area of the 700 block of North Oak Street. Martin was observed sitting on the side of the road and had an open Milwaukee’s Best beer can sitting next to him. Martin had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from him, bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and he admitted to drinking. Martin was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center, where he provided a sample of his breath on DataMaster. Results from DataMaster showed Martin had a blood-alcohol content of .264.

Martin was released on $1,000 bond.

Brandon Tull, 16, 501 N. Birch St., was referred to juvenile authorities for disorderly conduct 2 p.m. Thursday at the juvenile probation office.

Hamadi Ghariani, 1501 W. Townline St., reported a tan Gucci handbag was taken from his residence between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
