MURRAY — The Murray boys basketball team held an 11-point lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in a 72-30 win over Melcher-Dallas here on Friday.
“We really played well tonight and were able to get a lot of the young kids into the game for some varsity experience,” head coach Darin Wookey said. “We know that after Christmas break things really start to get tough, and we need to be playing our best ball.”
Trey McHenry led the Mustangs with 20 points, also grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out five assists. Braydon Held netted 11 points for the Mustangs.
Andrew Rider scored eight points and dished out a team-high six assists. Sam Rockhold scored five points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Pat Kilmer contributed eight points and 13 rebounds. Thane Simmons scored four points with six boards.
Murray, now 4-2 for the season, returns to action on Jan. 7 at Ankeny Christian Academy.
