No citations were issued after an accident 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on 170th Street.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Sammy Douglas Woods, 55, 1071 170th St., driving a 2007 GMC west on 170th, swerved to miss a deer that ran in front of the vehicle, lost control of the vehicle and entered the south ditch.

Damage estimate is $6,000 to Woods’ vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 3:05 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Squirrel Avenue and 250th Street.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, a sheriff’s deputy found an accident at the intersection of 250th and Squirrel. A tow truck operator advised he received a call of a 2012 Ford Focus in a ditch. The lessee of the vehicle is Brenda Schad of Shannon City. Schad called Union County Law Enforcement Center 4:45 p.m. to advise Levi Shepard of Shannon City had been driving the vehicle, knocked over a stop sign, crossed the intersection and went into the south ditch. The vehicle went through a fence owned by Ron Cheers of Afton and stopped in a plum thicket.

Damage estimates are $5,000 to Schad’s vehicle, $300 to the stop sign and $300 to the fence.
