Lloyd Rutherford Creston

Lloyd Rutherford, 78, of Creston died Dec. 28, 2013, at Greater Regional Medical Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Chuck Spindler will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Lloyd Dean Rutherford, son of Eileen (Avery) and Glen M. Rutherford, was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Audubon.

He was educated in Audubon schools.

On Aug. 23, 1957, Lloyd married Norma E. Sivadge in Fontanelle.

They first lived in Atlantic, where Lloyd worked for Colonial Bread driving a delivery route.

In 1965, they moved to Red Oak, where Lloyd worked for Farner Bocken.

Lloyd and Norma later divorced.

On May 6, 1988, Lloyd married Darlene Boberg in Shenandoah. They settled in Shenandoah, where Lloyd worked for Mount Arbor Nursery and later for Lawn World, doing landscaping work and lawn care.

Lloyd was a member of Lakeshore Golf and Country Club in Afton.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Darlene Rutherford of Creston; daughters, Debra (husband Kris) Jackson of Branson, Mo., and Diane (husband Alan) Adkisson of Corning; sons, Douglas (wife Cynthia) Rutherford of Stanton and James (wife Sarah) Rutherford of Adel; grandchildren, Josh Jackson of Branson, Mo., Nick Rutherford of Lincoln, Neb., and Danielle Moore of Council Bluffs; seven great-grandchildren; former wife Norma Carr of Corning; and stepsisters, Shirley Gerdes, Marilyn Paton and Evelyn Bettin, all of Leon.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold and Paul Rutherford; and stepsister Janet Dailey.
