Pearl Snyder Creston

Pearl Snyder, 89, of Creston died Dec. 24, 2013, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Dianna Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. Visitation with family present will be noon to 2 p.m. service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Pearl Marie (Anderson) Snyder, daughter of Mabel Luta (Martin) and Charles Gustive Anderson, was born Aug. 29, 1924, in Creston.

Pearl was educated in Cromwell, Creston and Davenport schools.

In her early years, she worked at the Chicken Inn and dime store.

On Feb. 14, 1948, Pearl married Glen Snyder in Creston.

They settled in Iowa Falls where they lived and work. Pearl was a homemaker.

They moved to Creston for a few years, then to Clarinda in 1976.

Glen died in 1985. Pearl then returned to live in Creston.

Pearl was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston.

Pearl is survived by her sons, Wesley Snyder and Garry W. Snyder, both of Creston, brother Clinton Turbeck of Osage; sisters, Dorothy Carrier of Detroit, Mich., and Darlene McIntosh of Des Moines; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to her husband, Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Oscar, Glen and Edward Anderson; and sister Helen Walters.
