Ronald Goben Creston

Ronald Goben, 75, of Creston died Jan. 2, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. The Rev. Dan Moore will officiate. Open visitation with family present will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are to be established. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Ronald Lee Goben, son of Evelyn Ann (Sylvara) and Walter Cornelius Goben, was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Lucas.

Ronald was educated in Creston schools.

Ron served in the Army Reserves beginning March 26, 1960, and was honorably discharged Sept. 25, 1960.

In the early 1970s, Ron married Marcella Jean Adams in Creston, and they later divorced.

Ron worked for Purolator for approximately 12 years, until it closed. He also worked for Graceland Cemetery and Creston High School as a custodian for 23 years, retiring in 2003.

Ron is survived by his daughter Angela (husband Stephan) Kerby of Bellevue, Neb.; son Rod Case of Creston; brothers, Jerry (wife Mary) Goben of Council Bluffs and Larry Goben of Creston; grandson Brandon (wife Mary) Kerby of Papillion, Neb.; and great-granddaughter Sofia Kerby.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
