GREENFIELD — Individuals who want to maintain private pesticide certification by attending continuing-education classes should make plans to attend one of the three trainings planned in Adair County. Each training session is two hours long and focuses on the laws, regulations and pest-management strategies for agricultural crops.

The first recertification session of the year will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 14 at the 4-H/FFA Center, Adair County Fairgrounds in Greenfield.

Adair County Extension will also be hosting recertification courses in Adair and Creston. The Adair PPAT session will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at Adair Community Center. The Creston PPAT session will be 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at Southwestern Community College room 180.

License holders can attend recertification sessions at any location in the state, so if the Adair County dates do not work, contact Adair County Extension for a list of dates and times in surrounding counties. If you have questions about the status of your private pesticide certification, call Adair County Extension in advance of the training session. Extension personnel can access your records and check to make sure you need to attend a training session.

Anyone who needs to get their initial private-pesticide certification or has let their certification must take a written test. Study materials are available for check-out at Greenfield, Adair, Fontanelle, Stuart and Orient libraries or you may order and purchase a manual at Adair County Extension for $15.

For more information, contact Adair County Extension at 641-743-8412 or 1-800-ISUE399.
