Ministerial Alliance makes changes to crisis fund

Published: Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 10:33 a.m. CDT

Union County Ministerial Alliance has made changes to its crisis fund program. It will now be known as the Union County Ministerial Alliance Assistance program.

It will be administered at United Church of Christ Congregational Church, 501 W. Montgomery St. Hours of operation will be 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesdays, just before the Open Table is served.

Reasons for this change are employed people may now come after work, and the food pantry is located at the church with immediate food assistance available. People who come to get assistance may stay for the free meal.

All new applications are being taken, so individuals who have filled out an application under the former program will need to fill out a new one. As a part of the new program, people who have been removed from the program in the past may re-apply.

To help determine eligibility, consider the following: Does your family qualify for free or reduced lunch programs? Do you receive Social Security and/or Medicaid? While these are not the only factors involved, this gives a guideline.

Vendors should send bills to: the Rev. Delores Doench, 1401 Monroe, Cromwell, IA 50842.

For additional information, contact Doench at the above address by mail, email wxvzdee@windstream.net or phone 641-202-0314.
