David J. Irving, 87, of Mount Ayr died Jan. 8, 2014, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Skip Rushing will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr. Open visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Friday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association. David Irving, son of Marjorie (Ritz) and George Irving, was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Lizton, Ind. David lived his entire life in Mount Ayr.

David graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1945.

David married Darlene Dulany in Troy, Kan.

David operated  Irving’s Clothing from 1945-1990 and was also a cattle farmer from 1947-2011.

David is survived by his wife Darlene Irving of Mount Ayr; sons, Pat (Ame) Irving and Tim Irving, all of Davenport; daughters, Vicki (Jim) Westerly of Indianola and Jean (Dick) Sulentic of Truro; grandchildren, Jeremy (Celeste) Irving, Colby (Jeanetta) Irving, Marissa (Danny) Antle, Dirk (Tiffany) Westerly, Blair (Kara) Westerly, Breck Westerly, Dane, Kellen, Madeline and Olivia Sulentic and Ashley (Tim) Harles; great- grandchildren, Rileigh and Brycen Antle, Ella and Millie Irving, Ada and Landry Westerly and Arianna and Jordyn Harles.
