Panthers 1-1 in 9-JV classic

Creston went 1-1 in the Panther JV-Freshman Girls Basketball Classic here Saturday.

The Panthers defeated West Central Valley 34-29 before losing to Eddyville-Blakesburg 32-31.

Lexlie Little scored 14 points and Caitlin McIlravy added 10 in the win over West Central Valley.

“We did a great job of getting to the free throw line and making our free throws, as we were 16 of 18 at the line,” said Creston coach Mendy McCreight. “Lexie had a great game with 14 points and two 3-pointers, including one at the end of the first quarter.”

Creston led all but the final four seconds against Eddyville-Blakesburg. McIlravy had 14 points to lead Creston (6-8).

“They got a shot off at the end and made it,” McCreight said. “We played really good defense but we had troubles getting our shots to fall. WE didn’t shoot well at the free throw line either (6-13).”
