The following programs have been announced at Southern Prairie YMCA:

Little Picasso

Southern Prairie YMCA is offering a program for the preschool age child. Little Picasso is for children ages 3-5 years old, designed for kids who love to draw, paint and explore.

Various arts and crafts are geared toward the preschool child in a fun environment.  Little Picasso is Saturday mornings, 11-11:45 a.m. with a new class starting every month.

Registration deadline is one week prior to the first Saturday of the month. Children can also sign up one Saturday at a time, with one week’s notice. Fees are $5 for members and $10 for other participants.

Gym and swim

For children ages 3-5 years old the YMCA offers “Gym and Swim.” It is held two Saturdays mornings, Feb 22 and March 1, from 8:30-9:45 a.m. It’s a combination of gym activities and swimming. Early registration is encouraged because space is limited. Registration deadline is Feb. 14.

Valentine’s Day

Children 4 to 11 years old can have their own fun on Valentine’s Day at Southern Prairie YMCA.

“While mom and dad go on a date, the kids can have a blast at the Y with pizza, swimming and games at Valentines Date Night or Fun for the Kids,” said Raquel LInch, YMCA welcome center supervisor.

It will be held Friday, Feb. 15 starting at 6 p.m. Registration deadline is Feb. 7. This program is for children 4-11 years old.  Children age 4-6 need to be picked up by 9 p.m. and children 6-11 need to be picked up by 11 p.m.

Home show

The Home and Garden show is scheduled March 29 at Southern Prairie YMCA.

There are still some vendor spaces available. Special guest this year will be Jerry Cluver of Hy-Vee’s “Get Growing.” Guests will have the chance to get new ideas or products to spruce up their home. E-waste recycling will also be available in addition to visiting the multiple vendors. Pre-show tickets will be available soon.
