From Lynn Hertz
I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of Larry Peterson’s touching article on the life of my husband, Tom Hertz. Tom was very proud of being raised in Creston and lived his life with values learned in a small town in Iowa. He was a good husband and father as well as an exceptional football coach as was evidenced by the large number of linemen who attended the memorial service. Coach Dyer would have been proud.
Tom was a great story teller and shared his happy memories of growing up in Creston with his children and grandchildren. They listened intently to the tales of Grandpa with his buddies and classmates of the class of 1959. What fun was had in Creston in the ‘50s.
Thank you, Larry, for writing a heartwarming article covering the important aspects of Tom’s life.
