Lorabel Taylor, 102, of Diagonal died Feb. 1, 2014, at Clearview Homes in Clearfield.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Ed Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Diagonal Cemetery. Open visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family present 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the United Church of Diagonal. Lorabel Taylor, daughter of Julia (Denhart) and Guy Cornelison, was born Jan. 5, 1912, in Benton.

Lorabel graduated from Diagonal High School in 1929.

Lorabel moved to Maryville, Mo., with her parents in 1933.

On Jan. 24, 1935, Lorabel married Clifford Sylvester Taylor in Maryville, Mo.

Lorabel and Clifford farmed the Taylor family farm west of Diagonal.

Clifford died in 1988.

Lorabel was one of the first female deacons in the Presbyterian Church and later became a member of United Church of Diagonal, where she was active in the quilting club, choir and playing the organ.

In her younger years, Lorabel played the piano for the silent movie theater in Diagonal.

Lorabel is survived by her son Jack (Dixie) Taylor of Diagonal, their children, Darla (Gary) Sobotka, Karen (Shon) Berry, Jim (Lisa) Taylor, Patty (Chris) Eaton; daughter Janelle (Larry) Dalbey of Tucson, Ariz., their children, Mitch (Masayo) of Torrance, Calif., Jon (Janine) of Phoenix, Ariz., Jeff of Tucson, Ariz.; son Gary (Jean) Taylor of Springfield, Ill., their children, Steve (Corie) Taylor of Columbia, Mo., Shannon (JK) Olson of Cedar Rapids; daughter Sharla (Owen) McCarron of Cedar Rapids, their children, Sean of West Hollywood, Calif., Kyle of Seattle, Wash., Owen Taylor of Cedar Rapids; sons-in-law, Mike (Grace) Warin of Mount Ayr, Mike (Michelle) Warin of Pella and Joe (Michelle) Warin of Clearfield; 31 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.      

In addition to her husband, Lorabel was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Deanna Warin, grandson James Warin, brother Dan Cornelison and sister-in-law Mary Alice Cornelison.
